In the following article are 3 most popular misunderstanding about paper packaging which we have encountered. Botta Packaging hope that the audiences could have better information about our eco-friendly products.

Misunderstanding 1: Paper packaging is related to deforestration

It is not true! Paper packaging, especially corrugated cardboard, is mostly made from recycled paper. According to twosides.info, 72 percent of paper used in Europe in 2017 has been recycled.

If virgin paper pulp from wooden chip is needed, the wood must respect the rules of circular economy in paper industry. In details, wood used for paper packaging is havested from sustainable forests which are certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). FSC and PEFC will examine the management and controlling the cycle of planting, growing and logging, which makes sure the sustainable renewal of forestry resources, the habitants of animals and the balance of eco-system.

Misunderstanding 2: Paper packaging is not as strong as plastics

In facts, corrugated cardboard is much stronger than any plastic boxes and the most popular packaging in logistics and transportation. Indeed, some special kinds of corrugated cardboard like double wall or triple wall cardboard boxes can replace wooden case, and of course, much lighter than wooden or plastic boxes.

Some bags made from kraft paper or cardboard can replace plastic bag for daily shopping. They are then can be partly recycled or decompose in nature easily.

Misunderstanding 3: Paper production can cause greenhouse gas emission

If you can do some research on internet, you will learn that it is totally wrong. Also according to twosides.info, both paper and printing industry only cause 1% of carbon dioxide emission in Europe in 2016. This figure is very small compared to other industry or compared to the other great impacts which paper packaging brings to environment. In addition, the direct emission from paper production has been reduced by 25% between 2005 and 2017.

From the information above, you can be relieved that the paper packaging you usually use is even more eco-friendly than you thought it was. For this reason, it is a pleasant for every staff at Botta Packaging to promote the usage paper-based products among public.
