It is nice for us to replace plastic stuff by paper products for a green sustainability; however, not all paper-based wares are encouraged for daily usage. In some aspects, saving the paper is saving the energy, labor and natural resources spent on producing them. For this reason, Botta Packaging has listed some of the familiar paper products that we should save while using in our daily lives.
One-time-used paper cups or dishes – unnecessary paper products
We highly recommend consumers to avoid one-time-used paper cups or dishes although we know they are super convenient for your picnics or friends’ gathering. As you know from its name, these cups and dishes is not reusable as they are made for purpose of one-time usage only. It is a waste of energy, material and labor to produce them for just some minutes of utilization. Especially for the fact that cups and dishes have the direct contact with food, usually virgin pulp is used. As the consequence, the more you use paper cups and dishes, the more trees are cut down.
In addition, some paper dishes even contain heavy food load after disposal which makes it hard to recycle them. Most of the paper cups are wet and torn after used as well. That is the reason why they are not our favorable paper products.
Tissue and napkin – the huge waste of paper products
Tissue and paper napkin are non-recyclable since most of them are wet, torn, or full of food load when they are dumped. Unfortunately, they account for a huge amount of non-recyclable paper because they are often used in daily meals, which creates a frequent waste of resources. Similar to paper cups and dishes, paper napkin and tissue are mostly made up of new pulp from cut-down trees and this is not encouraged in our paper industry.
One alternative for us is to use the fabric napkin and tissue on our dinning table. In fact, it is a super sustainable and, also, noble choice for us. Only one small change in hour habit could save a lot of resources out there.
Writing paper – better to avoid using them
Everybody loves writing on the real paper but if we could save it, we should save it. Thanks to the recent technological development, we are now able to take notes on smart phone, tablets and PC. It is the smarter way to save your documents as it doesn’t cost you money to buy paper or spaces to store them.
Paper mail and envelope could be replaced by email or social messenger apps, by this way, you can also follow the conversation easier. Using digital innovations can help us save a lot of trees and resources for making the paper.
Of course, paper products are in general biodegradable and easily recyclable, which is good for our environment. But it is not an excuse for you to overuse them. In the end, we just want to send a simple message: “let be a responsible consumer when using paper products”.
