In Italy today, 9 out of 10 packages are produced by companies associated with GIFCO. L'industria degli imballaggi in cartone ondulato ha meccanismi di riciclaggio efficaci. L'88% di contenuto riciclato di nuovi imballaggi ondulati riduce la necessità di nuove fibre, proteggendo le risorse naturali. Gli imballaggi per il riciclaggio mantiene materiali preziosi nel cerchio e impedisce l'incenerimento e lo smaltimento in discarica.

Gli imballaggi ondulati sono biodegradabili. Le fibre si trasformano facilmente in bio-massa. Solo il 55% delle foreste recentemente reimpiantate viene messo da parte ogni anno per uso industriale, con solo il 12% di quello utilizzato per la carta, quindi gli imballaggi ondulati sono sostenibili.
