The greenhouse effect is what causes global warming. It is a natural phenomenon that in itself is not negative. Thanks to this effect, the Earth does not have an excessively low and inhospitable temperature. Greenhouse gases, including CO2, methane, and ozone, favour the reflection of IR rays towards the earth and retain part of the heat that is thus distributed on the earth's surface, mitigating the climate. This phenomenon is based on a very delicate natural balance. Man is responsible for a strong increase of CO2, which is putting more and more under pressure. This leads to catastrophic risks for our planet. The increase in greenhouse gases is causing temperatures to rise excessively.
The increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is mainly due to human activity. Intense industrialization has caused and continues to cause more and more, a huge amount of CO2 emissions due to the use of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas).
If adequate measures are not taken to reduce CO2 emissions, global warming will increase causing profound climate changes, with consequences such as melting glaciers, rising sea levels, increasing heatwaves, long periods of drought, increasing arid areas, severe floods, storms, and hurricanes, destruction of animal habitat, extinction of many animal species and increase in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
