WHY IS PACKAGING SO IMPORTANT?

 Why is packaging so important?

Packaging is a fundamental marketing tool that has the task of convincing the customer to whom it is addressed, allowing the product to stand out from the different competitors of the same product category.

The creative process at the basis of it, must take into account: the content, which can be more or less emphasized, the target to which it targets and the brand image that is built around the brand.

Designers often question the possibility of giving the packaging a second function and often you jump into completely unusual areas.

Packaging (or packaging) involves the development of a container and a graphic design for a product. Packaging is a very important part of the product, as it can make it easier to use, easier to identify, more beautiful.

It’s able to influence customer attitudes and therefore their purchasing decisions, like the name of a brand.

There are thousands of products on the market that compete for the attention of your customers. According to some studies, one third of a consumer’s decision-making process is based exclusively on the packaging of the product. To be successful, the packaging of your brand must stand out and look different from your competitors.

The colours used in the packaging of the product play a key role in consumer purchasing decisions. Your brain reacts to colors in different ways, so choose the colors of the pack accordingly.

Take a moment to think about some of your favorite brands. They all have one thing in common: they are memorable. Over the decades, brands such as Coca-Cola have made small changes to the packaging and have remained faithful to their original appearance.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING IN THE COSMETIC SECTOR

Sustainable packaging in the cosmetics sector

The cosmetics industry is undergoing a strong and rapid ecological transition. There is now talk of creating products that are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Industry giants have already moved in this direction and are making their environmental commitment a real production strategy. The initiatives that have been put in place put the recycled paper at the forefront of packaging. Even labels are now printed on paper. Recyclable and renewable paper offers various opportunities for innovation in the era of the circular economy and can replace all those materials that were previously and traditionally used for packaging.

Thus, a revolution is taking place both in packaging and in the product itself. There are a new series of products called 'solids' which are packaged in cardboard. This cardboard is often made of recycled fibers or from sustainably managed forests.

In terms of logistics, eco-design measures have also been taken to save raw materials. Packaging that is lightened and reduced in size also allows more products to be transported.

Among the companies that have received awards for sustainability is La Saponaria, with its line of solid products. The packaging system for the solid body cream consists of an outer box made of cardboard, which can be recycled with paper, while the inner protective shell is 100% biodegradable cellulose. La Saponaria won the ECO PACKAGING AWARDS in the BODY CREAMS category.

Another company, which won the ECO PACKAGING AWARDS for the category body cleansing - other materials, is Officina Naturae. Its solid shampoo has packaging made of FSC-certified cardboard, as small as possible, and made from recyclable materials.

By now, cosmetic companies have launched themselves into the world of sustainability and eco-packaging to offer not only quality products but also green ones. And what are you waiting for to try these new product lines?

CARDBOARD FORNITURE

 Cardboard furniture

Cardboard has a thousand qualities and can also be used as a furnishing material to create eco-friendly and inexpensive furniture that can be customised with designs and inlays. Unlike other materials, cardboard furniture does not contain any harmful products.

Cardboard furniture is made using an interlocking technique, which makes individual details visible and avoids the use of harmful adhesives. In addition, they are easy to transport as they are disassembled into shapes that are then assembled. They require minimal packaging volumes and lead to significant cost reductions.

To make cardboard furniture and furnishings, certain types of cardboard are used which are highly resistant. The main material used is corrugated cardboard, which is made by gluing together 2 to 7 layers of cardboard.

Another type of cardboard is honeycomb cardboard, which has a high resistance to pressure. Although it is very light, it is very thick.

Spiral cardboard tubes, which are fire-resistant and have a high proportion of recycled fibre, are also used.

Finally, honeycomb sandwich boards are further used. These are made of 100% recycled paper fibre. They consist of a honeycomb structure closed between two sheets by an organic glue.

It may not look like it, but the cardboard used is top quality and can take a lot of weight. For example, there are some chairs that can support weights of up to 2 quintals. Moreover, they have many uses. If properly combined with glass sheets, cardboard can also become a kitchen worktop. In particular, corrugated cardboard is perfect for making room dividers or other decorative objects.

The benefits of cardboard furniture are many. First of all, their cost is very low. This is due to the cheapness of the raw material and the fact that it is easy to transport. In fact, transport is really easy because the weight is very light and the various pieces are then assembled. In addition, they are very easy to assemble in a relatively short time. Just follow a few simple instructions. Finally, the quality that makes them so unique is that they are 100% recyclable. What are you waiting for? Try it to believe it!

BENEFITS OF GREEN PACKAGING

 Benefits of Green Packaging

Green packaging offers a wide range of benefits not only to businesses but to the consumer and the community at large.

Materials used in green packaging are biodegradable therefore they can decompose easily. Most of the conventional packages like plastics, cans, and bottles take thousands of years to break down. Even with their long period of breaking down, they end up in our oceans. With this new advent of sustainable packaging, we can have and maintain our cleaner and safer oceans by reducing the amount of waste that ends up in them.

This type of packaging provides more energy-efficient manufacturing processes for businesses. Instead of using fossils fuels, sustainable packaging uses alternative power supplies like wind or solar energy. This helps to reduce the amount of carbon and pollution in the air that makes it cleaner for the earth's inhabitants. Renewable energy sources are then used in the production of these packages. For example, the use of paper agricultural fibres instead of using ones gained from cutting down trees.

It has a positive impact on your company's brand image. By presenting your business as environmentally friendly via the use of this kind of packaging, you are able to gain the strong faith and confidence of your consumers. As consumers, we are more concerned about the environment's long-term viability and sustainability. It will also have an impact on growing your client base, which will ultimately result in more income at the end of the day.

They are again easily reusable and recyclable. The reusing of packages extends its lifespan. This reduces the amount they need for new raw materials which would have led to the cutting down of trees and would also further help reduce the amount of carbon footprint.

Concerning these advantageous positions of sustainable packaging, let's encourage ourselves to go "green".

BIODEGRADABLE VERSUS COMPOSTABLE

Biodegradable Versus Compostable

Among those involved in recycling, the terms "biodegradable" and "compostable" are often used interchangeably. There is a significant distinction between these two terms. In contrast to the fact that every compostable material is also biodegradable, not all biodegradable material is also compostable. The word biodegradable refers to an object that can be broken down, but it does not always imply that it can be composted.

Biodegradability refers to anything that can be broken down into smaller pieces without the need for any kind of intervention, whether it is derived from plants, animals, or the natural world. These are broken down into various time frames depending on the materials that were utilized in their creation. Some decompose in a short period, while others take hundreds of thousands of years.

Compostable refers to anything that can be composted or decomposed. Products falling into this category need a compostable environment to decompose into natural components and not create any environmental harm while in use. This procedure typically takes approximately 90 days to complete. To ensure that products decompose properly, they must be disposed of in a compostable waste bin or pile.

Biodegradable materials, while they return to nature and may eventually vanish entirely, can occasionally leave behind metal residue. Compostable materials, on the other hand, produce something known as humus, which is rich in nutrients and is excellent for growing plants.

Because of these distinctions, company owners should make it plain to their customers and prospective consumers what their goods are and are not. Further explanation of these words may be provided so that consumers are aware of how to properly dispose of the goods they purchase.
